PCPA is delighted to announce this years PCPA Celtic Symposium will be online. 

This event is FREE and open to all pharmacy professionals. This is a national event but with a regional flair.

Mental Health - Speaker Alan Cottney

Three key learning points:

  • Antidepressants are among the most prescribed types of medication in primary care. It is therefore essential that pharmacists working in primary care educate themselves about how to use these medications safely and effectively. 
  • It is vital that people who are prescribed medication for the treatment of depression are reviewed pro-actively and that their treatment is adapted in line with current guidelines; pharmacists are ideally positioned to do this.
  • Pharmacist should help educate patients about antidepressant medications, including reassuring patients that antidepressants work and that they are not addictive.
